Things overheard/ Sentences without a story.
I don't know if this is the right place to put this, but I have a devilish knack of hearing phrases or sayings that would be absolutely fab for the first or last line of a story. I get all inspired, but if I can't grab a pencil at that very second, I can't get on with them. As I am usually driving at the time they are often lost. I was thinking that if I can't put them to good use, maybe somebody else can.
And so, ladies and gentlemen, I offer up to you the following doozy, heard on BBC Radio 2 last week, I won't give you the context, as it might pollute the creative flow, except to say that it was about a train journey.
"... somewhere between Basingstoke and Andover, it happened..."
Anybody want it? I'll accept bids from 1 Jaffa cake.
