Thanks Llew! I had a "duh" moment when I read these cinquains. I always wondered why my cinquains always came out sounding so juvenile, and it's because I was taking the instructions so literally, for example (taken from my grade 11 English book);

Buttons
Shiny, Pretty
Joining, Closing, Matching
Keeping the world together
Fastener

To me that just doesn't work, but when I read the examples of the cinquains in the second link, there is license taken with the rules that make the poems seem more... poetic.
